He is currently analyst for champion jockey Oisin Murphy and in the past has been agent for Kevin Darley, Jason Weaver and Kieren Fallon amongst others. He also has an extensive background in journalism including The Sporting Life, early days of At The Races and Timeform Radio. Interview: STEVE PALMER Steve Palmer has been a Racing Post columnist, golf tipster and punter for most of his working life. One of the most well-known tipsters in the country, his columns have been must read material for years. Palmer’s weekly diaries were so popular that Michael Owen, Dietmar Hamann, and Paul Merson gave endorsements to his 2011 book ‘Born To Punt’. In the same year he landed the biggest winner in the Racing Post’s history when 200/1 shot Thomas Bjorn won at the Qatar Masters. Palmer was also part of the 2015 BBC documentary Britain at the Bookies, in which his performance of ‘This Will Not Be Beaten’ became an instant meme. Meeting Steve Palmer with William Kedjanyi.

Interview: STEVE SMITH ECCLES Steve Smith Eccles – that last of the ‘cavalier’ jump jockeys who played as hard they worked. Probably most famous for winning the Champion Hurdle three times on the trot on Nicky Henderson’s See You Then, the son of a Derbyshire miner was also in the headlines for his ‘extracurricular’ activities. In this four part interview Steve talks us through his career, from being shown down a pit by his dad, arriving at a Newmarket racing yard aged just 15, riding Tingle Creek to victory, Cheltenham glory and shenanigans aplenty, hilarious and outrageously related.
